Australian Shepherds

Australian Shepherds are a very intelligent, active breed.  They make excellent pets for active families.  Aussies are fantastic with kids, but sometimes their excitement gets the best of them and they can easily knock down a small child with their waggy rear ends!  Basic obedience training and spending time with kids from an early age will help them to control their excitement when around little ones.  They are very active dogs and they need a job or other activity to satisfy their working drive.  Originally bred as a herding dog, they are great at a variety of things, excelling in activities like agility competitions and frisbee.  They are not suitable for life in an apartment unless you are committed to exercising them daily.  Contact us if you are interested in adding an Aussie to your family.  Our Aussies are family pets & we only occasionally have puppies.  If we don't have a litter we know an excellent breeder who may have puppies available.

Bella is my first Aussie & the best dog I've ever had.  She is excellent with my kids & is my constant companion on the farm.  She's got a ton of natural herding instinct and is a great helper when I need to catch a goat or rabbit.  She never hurts any of them - even the tiniest baby bunny can run around her feet.  She's has been helping me take care of bottle goats since she was a puppy and has become a great mother.  She's now literally raising my bottle goats right along with her own puppies.  She cleans and feeds them & they sleep with her pups.  We are taking deposits on the puppies & only have 1 boy left.  See him on our "Australian Shepherd Puppies" page.   Check out "Storm"  the gorgeous double registered blue merle sire at Irongate Australian Shepherds.  You can also see Bella's parents Denim & Judge on the Irongate website.

We are very excited to add Levi to our family!  He is a handsome blue eyed guy with a fantastic personality.  He's very smart & is learning very quickly.  Like Bella, he came from Irongate Australian Shepherds.  His parents are Dena & Hawk.  Watch for updated pictures as he grows.

This is Bella's baby girl.  She will be staying here with us to complete our Aussie family.  We are still deciding on her registered name.  Watch for updated pics as she grows.
